              Creating Space

Our initiative supports local artists by providing them affordable studio spaces to thrive and cultivate their talents.

The Creative Space Project actively reaches out to building owners throughout New York City to explore tax-free participation in this initiative, creating mutually beneficial partnerships that support both property owners and the city’s creative community. By working collaboratively with owners of underutilized or transitional spaces, the organization seeks to negotiate arrangements in which qualifying properties can be made available for artist use while offering financial and civic advantages to the owner. These partnerships are designed to reduce vacancy, stabilize buildings, and contribute to the cultural vitality of neighborhoods, while allowing owners to participate in a mission-driven effort without additional tax burden. Through careful stewardship, clear agreements, and long-term thinking, The Creative Space Project aims to align private property interests with public cultural benefit, ensuring that creative workspaces remain accessible, sustainable, and deeply rooted in New York City’s artistic ecosystem.

The Creative Space Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating affordable, quiet, and thoughtfully designed studio spaces for artists in New York City. We support deep, focused creative work by offering environments that prioritize concentration, accessibility, and respect for the artistic process—especially for those whose work requires silence, continuity, and time. By reducing financial and environmental barriers, The Creative Space Project helps artists sustain their practice and remain rooted in the city they help define.
